Terra Tek Ltd delivered an extensive range of in-situ and laboratory testing solutions during the remodelling over a four-year period of the former Ravenscraig Steelworks site in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. This was done by utilising the skills and experience of the staff at our Airdrie laboratory.

In-situ testing performed included nuclear and sand replacement density, moisture condition value and California Bearing Ratio determinations, as well as plate bearing and zone tests.

Laboratory testing undertaken at our Airdrie premises included natural moisture content, plasticity index, particle size distribution, quick undrained triaxial, 2.5kg and 4.5kg moisture content/dry density relationship analyses. Material calibration of the nuclear density gauges used to monitor the emplacement of the fill materials was also carried out on an ongoing basis throughout the contract.
